IVRPA in Social Web

The rise of Social Web to every corner of the Internet is undeniably this days and I have noted that the IVRPA is also starting to ride this trend.

You can follow the IVRPA on Twitter: http://twitter.com/ivrpa
On LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=1906190
And on Facebook starting today: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=67806473343

Is this good or bad for the IVRPA?

I think that spreading the word about the IVRPA is a good thing and social networks may help other people interested in VR Photography know what we do and possibly join in as members of our association.

If any of you know about other social networks with IVRPA groups please let us know so we can follow those activities and participate.

Re: IVRPA in Social Web

In my opinion, having activity on all these social sites draws people away from the main site, and that can't be a good thing. We should have a look at these sites, see what they offer to our members and the public in general, and see if we can't offer the same here, at ivrpa.org

Re: IVRPA in Social Web

Aldo,

What these sites offer is the network effect between friends and friends of friends!
Friends that didn't ever heard anything about the IVRPA and suddenly get a notice that the IVRPA exists and they might check out this website.
It's the opposite effect, having the IVRPA present on those social websites will get the IVRPA known by more people that never heard about it.
Even if this had been built in ivrpa.org, we would be networking with each other, the ivrpa.org users, that's a very small environment compared to the world wide ecosystem provided by hundreds of millions users on these social websites.
Just give it a try to see for yourself.
