The hosting issue
Many of you noticed last January that our website then hosted at http://bluehost.com suffered some outages when they decided that ivrpa.org was using too much resources, particularly they blamed MySQL queries and took us off the air.
The Web Team decided that we should improve our situation by changing to a host that won't shut us down for those reasons and after searching around we decided to go with http://Mosso.com. What drove us to Mosso was their top notch cloud offering. Cloud Hosting is the next big thing and this would free us from the constrains of the sharing hosting while avoiding the pitfalls of the dedicated or virtual server hosting offerings.
When a website is deployed in a cloud like that, the resources that is sharing give plenty head room for growth either files or traffic for a reasonable usage fee.
But when everything was supposed to get back on track, another issue is preventing us to stay at Mosso, namely their MySQL servers allowing only one user per database. Due to the particular settings at IVRPA.org we need to have the same user for many MySQL databases so that our sub-sites could share the same user database in real time. Mosso promised for weeks to have this fixed for us but after a long wait, nothing could be done on their side, so we just have to look elsewhere.
If any of you has some suggestion for us or about a great hosting company worth taking a look at, please share it here.
We are not looking for the around the corner hosting reseller, we have some demanding needs, but since we are out of options for now, every suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
