My New Site Design

http://www.newworlddesigns.co.uk/javascriptsample/qtvr.htm

I hate designing for myself, as i have no body to ask if its OK, or i cant use a brief provided by a client.

Has anybody any real comments on this site layout and idea, as i really have been staring at this all day, wondering what the hell I'm doing.

And trying to convert this into Joomla is going to be very fun, i will probably use the virtuemart shopping system as it has the

basic info
detailed info
review system
relevant other products

Which will just be added to the template in the "More Information >>" bits.

The only problem i have is the dam QTVR and Flash VR.

Aldo, does the Light-box you have used here use a page, or is it just the link to the movie it self that is then converted into a light-box effect?

Cheers
Ian

Is the page a "sample image page"?

I'm assuming the virtual image should be in the big empty space?

Also, I'm assuming the main purpose of the site is to promote you business and show what you do?

Your site is organized by technology not your target customers. Secondary to the tour of Albuquerque, my site has the section "iPIX Tours for" and buttons for the businesses I'm targeting. I need to do a big update with this area, starting with "Multimedia for" and then the target markets, adding Golf Course and Ski Areas and some others. But what I'm going for is organizing the site by target market and show what technologies and services I provide especially for those markets. You can have sections for the technologies to, but showing off a floorplan navigated tour of a home like the HGTV Dream Home specifically to high-end, luxury home builders will appeal to high-end luxury home builders.

Its the classic marketing situation of trying to be all things to everybody and winding up being nothing specific to anyone. If you're big enough you can be "all things", but if you're a one man operation like most of us, you'll probably get a better return for your efforts with a little specialization.

And just showing sample virtual images doesn't show those potential customers how using your product will benefit them. Show them how they'll profit from using your products and you'll get more customers.
