An easy way to add looping Audio to your QTVR movies!
If you want to add a sound track to your QTVR movies using only QuickTime Pro, simply download these tiny (<10kb) sprite movies. Follow the directions below, and enjoy!
There are two sprite movies to choose from; One will auto-play your audio and loop it, while the other will just auto-play the audio.
I made these in response to a question... Hope this helps some folks out. :)
You should have 3 QuickTime files ready to go:
Your QTVR; your Audio; one of the audio Sprite movies
---------
1)
* Open your QTVR
* From the dropdown menu, choose Window:Show Movie Properties
* In Movie Properties, choose the Presentation tab
* Change the Movie Controller Type to "Movie Controller"
* Close the Movie Properties pane
* From the dropdown menu, choose Edit:Select All
* From the dropdown menu, choose Copy
* Close your QTVR, (without saving)
2)
* Open your audio movie
* From the dropdown menu, choose Edit:Select All
* From the dropdown menu, choose Edit: Add to Selection and Scale
- you should now see your QTVR in the Audio movie
3)
* Open one of the audio Sprite movies
* From the dropdown menu, choose Edit:Select All
* From the dropdown menu, choose Copy
* Close the audio Sprite movie (without saving, if prompted)
4)
* Go back to your new Audio/QTVR movie
* From the dropdown menu, choose Edit:Select All
* From the dropdown menu, choose Edit: Add to Selection and Scale
- you should now see a small white square on top of your QTVR,
and your Audio might start playing
5)
* Still in your new Audio/QTVR movie
* From the dropdown menu, choose Window:Show Movie Properties
* In Movie Properties, choose the Presentation tab
* Change the Movie Controller Type to "QTVR Movie Controller"
* Click once on the row/track named "audioSprite", to highlight it
* Choose the "Visual Settings" tab
* Set the layer to a higher number, until the white square
disappears (now, layered behind your QTVR)
* Close the Movie Properties pane
* From the dropdown menu, choose File: Save as
* Make sure to select "Save as a Self-contained Movie"
You're finished! Simply close, then reopen your new movie to make some noise!
Re: An easy way to add looping Audio to your QTVR movies!
Hello Patrick,
I can't seem to get this to work. I am on a PC (Windows XP) with QT Pro 7.1.5.
My problem is in step 2.3, when I try to click "Add to Selection and Scale" it doesnt do anything. The menu item isn't grey, it looks like I should be able to click on it, but when I do, its as if the menu item isnt active. I am not sure if this is relevant but I created my audio.mov by opening the mp3 file that I want to loop, then I saved it as a .mov file.
Thanks for your help.
Jamie

KF from Sweden sent me some high praise indeed for these little sprites... :-) Thought I'd memorialize it here:
Not even Apple have presented a useful description.
You're welcome!, and thanks for the kudos. :P Hope others find the sprites & instructions helpful.
