Celebrated on the ten days running up to Shrove Tuesday, Venice's carnival is a tradition which has its origins back in the 11th century. It fell into decline, but was revived in 1979 and is now held annually again. This photo was taken during the 2007 Venice Carnival. Here, four costumed ladies are posing in a little Venetian street.
