Basilica della Santissima Annunziata del Vastato, Genoa, Italy

Basilica della Santissima Annunziata del Vastato, Genoa, Italy

Maybe the most beautiful church in Genoa, it was built in 1520 by the Franciscan monks in a late gothic style, but they didn't finish it. In 1591 the Lomellini Family got involved in completing and enlarging it. The works ended forty years later. The basilica is a beautiful example of genoese manneristic-baroque. Inside, masterpieces by the following painters and sculptors can be found: Van Dyck, Strozzi, Piola, De Ferrari and Guidobono.
