IVRPA newsletter - February 2009

A new year has started and a new board of directors has been elected. We are committed to move the IVRPA forward this year and the first new thing that you are seeing is a regular newsletter to all members.

The purpose of this newsletter is to communicate better and describe not only what the Board of Directors is doing, but also what the BoD expects from you, the members. The board is giving direction but this association is about all of us, so from time to time members will be asked to join the committees, groups and other activities. You should also feel free to respond to the newsletter to ask questions or add your comments, thoughts, and ideas. A newsletter will be issued each month.

At the end of December 2008 a new Board of Directors was elected. The election result:

The new board officially took office on January 1, 2009.

On January 9 the first meeting of the new board was held using iChat. The issues discussed are described below.

In order to improve and manage different aspects of the IVRPA three committees were established.

Website Advisory Team

The mission of the web team is to improve the website, make it more valuable to the members, and add more functionality. Responsibility for the content is not only the task of the webmaster, but is shared by three directors, to ensure better continuity.

The first issue for this committee is moving the IVRPA Website to a new and more reliable service provider.

It was also decided to separate the members' mailing list into two parts.
- important announcements, sent to all members
- discussion of issues, to which members can subscribe and unsubscribe

Cooperation with other associations

This committee will be investigating the possibility of closer cooperation with the IAPP (International Association of Panoramic Photographers) and the WWP (World Wide Panorama) project. The first topic will be to see if a joint conference can be organized later this year. In the future, cooperation with organizations representing potential clients for VR services will be investigated.

This committee will be defining the direction and the goals of the IVRPA and considering how to provide value for membership, and improve communication with members.

For all of these projects and committees the BoD needs the help and input of the membership. This is not a one directional movement, so please interact!
