pole panos
Hi!
I´d like to experiment with pole-panos and would be happy to get some advises about
how to build a rig and how to twist the camera on the top of a pole.
I would make some marks on the base of the pole, which show the amount of twisting
the camera/lens needs and have a second tripod with a rest - i found a picture here with a base with two
rolls, the pole rests on and can be twisted without lateral movement.
Another way could be to mount the pole´s base to my Manfrotto click-stop base.
But i think the marker-way would be better . . some ideas?
I have a heavy Gitzo No.5 tripod, some weights to attach and a lighter Manfrotto 055 tripod
for supporting the pole, which i don´t have yet. But ii could use my Manfrotto boomer . . but it´s
about 2,50m. Uncomfortable for transporting it.
Mounting the camera (with fisheye) and twisting it in a correct way i´m not sure how to do.
Camera is a Canon 20D, lens is a Nikon 10,5mm.
best, Klaus

Ian Wood's been telling us about his progress with his "Frankenhead" in this blog and it has photos of it on a tall pole

Re: pole panos
Klauss - if you can make it from Düsseldorf to Lucerne, there's a big meeting of panoramic photographers 8th - 10th August, and I'll be giving a talk about the LEGO head there.

I've been looking at the 2 Bescor Mortorized Panheads in this link http://www.21best.com/21_best/electronic/security/video/pan_tilt/for_sal...
They're pretty reasonably priced
You wouldn't be able to take a Zenith or Nadir shot though.
