Kyungbokgung was the main palace in Korea during the Joseon Dynasty's 500 year history (1392-1910).
It was built in 1395 by King Lee Seong-Gye (King Taejo), when he moved the capital city from Gyeseong to Seoul.
This is the main building which houses the throne. The building was used for formal functions and important meetings with the King.
