ObjectVR movies

Hi everybody

I have a job shooting some objectVr's on a turntable, something I've not done for a long time and the last time I did I used Apple's Authoring Studio, now my question is, is this still a good software to use for the job or can anyone recommend a better one?

Many thanks for your help

Re: ObjectVR movies

Hi Bob,

I don't know about apple's Authoring Studio, but to make Object movies, Modelweaver is also a choice. Here you can see the demos: http://www.easypano.com/modelweaver_gallery.html. You can use turntable when shooting a series of digital images, and then import them into this program to make Java applet and QuickTime format object movies. You can embed the movies in your webpages.

best regards,

Re: ObjectVR movies

Ive never used easypano, so cant comment either way, but have used VR Worx since 2001 and highly recommend it for the object part. It also has the scene function allowing you to build multi-node panos and multi-node object movies.

The only down side of VR Worx is that you cant make spheres or cubes with it, only cylinders.

But for Object VRs its perfect, it makes multi row versions and will even link to most motorised Kaidan rigs so it will do everything for you.

The downsides of it
- The camera templates are years out of date, from yr 2002
- No cubic support
- No spherical support
- No Java output

The positive points of it
- You get discount for being a member here
- You have all the VR tools you need for panos, objects and multi-nodes
- You can create a qtvr from a pano you made in another stitching software
- It allows you to control almost all the copyright info etc in the QT movie

You can go to http://www.vrtoolbox.com/downloads.html and download the demo which does almost everything except save at the end. The boxed version i bought has the Mac and PC version included, so you can use either with no extra cost.

I was praying they would buy the Ipix patents, allowing them to add the 360 spheres to it, as it would have made an incredible package for VR Photographers
