Lewes, East Sussex, England. Lewes has been celebrating November the 5th as Bonfire for longer than anywhere else in the UK. This very traditional event commemorates the burning to death of the Protestant Martyrs and the death of the plotters in the Gunpowder Plot. A full explanation of the history of Bonfire in Lewes can be found at http://www.lewesbonfirecouncil.org.uk/ and http://www.cliffebonfire.com/home.html
