Global Climate change, grants/proposal ideas?
One of the advantages of having public charity status (501(c)3) as the IVRPA
enjoys, is that the organization can seek out grants from corporate foundations.
One possibility is that IVRPA could seek out grants to help document and explain
global climate change using our skilled member photographers.
Since we represent photographers in 40+ countries, that would yield a tremendous
variety of imagery worldwide.
I realize there are other photographic organizations involved with such "coverage"
but IVRPA can make a unique contribution to the understanding of this important issue.
Any ideas on grant makers, foundations, potential partner organizations?

Yes, I think this is a great opportunity for our group as a whole to participate in a larger community project and go after some larger funding. I'll be thinking of a list of places we can submit grants to. Would love to hear more from the members about any particular project ideas...for example, maybe there is a way WWP and IVRPA can submit for a grant together since there is a clear and demonstrated large body of work done as a community at WWP.
There's a number of artists who've done rephotography work and those are great works and very interesting. We could certainly do something similar or simply draw attention to areas that are in danger and/or start a project that documents changes over a specific time period.
Might also be possible to talk with the folks that are working on Photosynth to see about possible collaboration and joint ventures too. Or possibly direct funding from Adobe, Microsoft, Google Earth, etc.

A little while back i saw an excellent panorama movie By Ian Wood
http://ivrpa.org/blog/1833/digital_media_bursary_work_in_pr
maybe some thing on that line showing many different weathers, floods, rain, storms, snow, spring etc from the same point.
If you could find vintage photos from somewhere like flickr or Panoramio, enough that you can stitch together of one place so you could show before and after. Im sure there must be places of extreme tourism that will have enough images to be able stitch them together, like niagra falls for exmaple or other view pionts around the globe.
