Sun Terrace Nursery, San Francisco Flower Mart
The flower market began in the 1800's with local growers meeting at Lotta's fountain in downtown San Francisco to sell to the local flower shops. In 1924 the market moved to 5th and Howard Streets, then grew to such an extent that a new facility was needed. Brannan and 6th Streets is now the home of the San Francisco Flower Mart.
The flower mart is an industry icon. It sells to retailers in the very early morning hours then opens up to the public at 10:00am.
I arrived a little after 11:00 and was enchanted to find this great spot in front of an abundance of orchids.
Thank you to Silver Terrace Nursery, more specifically, Robert from behind the counter, for permission to set up in your space and take a panorama of your wonderful flowers.
