360 of Barack Obama and Al Gore at Detroit rally

Thought I'd share a panorama I did last night at a rally for Barack Obama in Detroit. Al Gore was there to endorsed him in front of a crowd of 20,000+.
It ran on the front page of the Detroit Free Press online.

Hi Anne

Very nice done.

check this com ment at Wonkette
"The Detroit Free Press is so in-the-tank for Barack Obama that they used some terribly expensive camera to cover his rally with Al Gore in Michigan yesterday."

Thanks Hans!

Yeah, I saw the Wonkette link. Their thing is to take a story and blow it out of proportion or make it silly. It's actually a pretty funny site.

I was pretty pleased with the coverage that this pano got. It was linked to over two dozen other sites that get thousands of readers a day including, The Democratic Underground, Digg The Atlantic.com, Buzz Tracker, MyDD, America Blog and many more. By first thing this morning it made number one most popular and most emailed link on the Detroit Free Press site. Granted the subject was popular but I also got a lot of emails from people who were blown away by the technology of it. They want me to do more of these for them and my hope is that other papers will fall in line and start using this technology. That would be HUGE for this medium.

Here is the direct link since it moved from the front page. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080617/MULTI/80617040&...

This is not one of my best panos. It was done at 2:00 am and they wanted very little editing done. About all I did was a little cropping in areas where movement was very obvious and then a little toning.
