How to get more business -
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and read a whole lot and I think this topic may get some attention.
I started shooting VR Tours in 2003 with a Nikon Coolpix 5700 ( i think ) and a fisheye lens. It was OK quality and it did the job at the time. In 2006 I had to replace the camera and currently I shoot with Casio EXP-700 and a fisheye lens that was provided from IPIX. With that said, here is my latest tour. http://www.vrguild.net/tour/199762
I believe that a high quality of your product is strongly needed to keep the customers that you already have, and have them keep comming back. I know my images are not the best quality outhere, however I have seen much, much worse. I will be upgrading to Canon Rebel XTi with 8mm Sigma. That should happen by the end of 2008. If anyone has any tips on this please let me know. Also, I am interesed how will the panorama look (taken with Rebel XTi & 8mm Sigma) if the image file size is down to around 370kb, please email me a file if you can, thank you.
Now on the the marketing:
Newspaper ads - I think it's a complete waist of time and money
RE Magazines - This may have some potential, since the ad is there for at least a month, however I do think if one decides to go with magazine page advertising you should be able to run it for at least 6 months to make any decisions on whether it works or not. I have tryed this type of marketing back when I first started, but didn't have much business from this. Only as much to pay for itself. I may try this again, but only if the budget is there.
E-Mail - I was able to get my hands on the list of all realtors in the area from the local MLS, and email the agents from time to time. Every time I send out the email broadcast I get a few tour orders. This marketing should be consistent yet not annoying
Presentations - never actually done this, but I just bought a Projector, and I'm working on a good presentation so I can represent the business as profesional as possible. What I mean by presentation is to visit RE office and give a presentation during their weekly office meetings, most re offices do that and from what I can tell they allways welcome vendors to introduce themselves. I believe this type of marketing should be very effective. I will let you all know how it turns out.
Please, share your marketing experiences, ideas and tips on what can you do to increase the tour production.
