Looks like Microsoft Research has released an updated stitcher which will allow output of a 360. The resulting panorama can be viewed with
the HD View (Windows only) plug in.

Automatic stitching options are available from Autopano, and Autostitch. And there is very active Flickr Autostitch group.

Our friends at Xrez, have a gigapixel 360 on their gallery.
