Workflow
8-bit or 16-bit
Submitted by Christopher Glick on Wed, 2008-01-02 11:27.I am a hobbyist panographer with little to no experience with graphic editing software. To date I have been using batch processing my RAW images as 16-bit TIFF files. PTMac gives me good results, but I have a small dilemma: I don't yet have a 16-bit graphic editor (neither GraphicConverter nor GIMP can handle the task, yet).
Over the next couple of weeks, I will try remake some of my 16-bit panoramas as 8-bit to see how the results differ.
Backup, backup, backup!
Submitted by Ian Wood on Mon, 2007-05-14 13:43.Just a reminder to backup all your work...
I'm in the middle of re-arranging my catalogue/workflow to deal with ever-increasing numbers of ever-larger files, in the process moving from a 'managed' Library in Aperture to a 'referenced' Library.
Unfortunately, user error resulted in 80% of the original files from a recent trip to Venice being deleted. Further user error compounded the problem by carrying the deletion over to the backup HD. Oops.
Free Adobe Light Room sessions
Submitted by Michael Quan on Thu, 2006-09-07 14:47.IVRPA members are invited to free lectures and seminars given by a world-class photographer and an Adobe expert as they share insights on photography and the digital workflow.
Hear from world-class photographer Colin Finlay and learn more about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom (a new application for importing, managing, developing and showcasing large photo collections) at 25 universities across the US. On the first day or evening, Finlay will share his 17-year career as a photographer, including commercial work as well as documentation of social issues such as wars and famine. The following day, Adobe's Senior Evangelist Julieanne Kost, will provide an in-depth seminar on using Photoshop and Photoshop Lightroom to support a digital workflow in digital imaging software.
REALVIZ Stitcher vs. PTGui (1)
Submitted by cheathamlane on Wed, 2006-08-23 19:58.Like any software, Stitcher has its quirks and bugs and these are of course most apparent (and annoying) to heavy users (of which I'll consider myself one). The Stitcher team has, over time, addressed many of these quirks/bugs -- but of course new ones always crop up. This isn't surprising for Stitcher or for any piece of software being developed. I develop my own interactive QuickTime 'widget' which is used by many in our VR development community, and constantly have to address its quirks and issues.
