You got your camera with you. Great. You have your tripod along with the panoramic head next to you? Probably not. Unless you go for the architectural motive, using the right control points gets you quite far.

This panoramic image is composed from 4 individual pictures using a 24mm lens on full frame without the use of any panoramic head:

My name is Christophe Bouthé, I live in France where I work as panoramic photographer as you can imagine.

The Golden Horn is a historic inlet of the Bosphorus dividing the city of Istanbul and forming the natural harbor that has sheltered Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and other ships for thousands of years. It is a scimitar-shaped estuary that joins the Bosphorus just at the point where that strait enters the Sea of Marmara, thus forming a peninsula the tip of which is "Old Istanbul" (ancient Byzantion and Constantinople). Its Greek and English names mean the same, but the significance of the designation "golden" is obscure, while its Turkish name Haliç simply means "estuary".

Doi Suthep Chiang Mai Thailand

This picture was taken in December 2011 at the Wat Doi Suthep. The Wat ( temple ) is situated on a hill near the city of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. After receiving permission we arranged the camera inside the blessing ceremony at the end of the day. Thankfully we made a 'real picture' - same as we made already another shot in 2007.
