- Biography
PhD biochemist, but worked mainly as a systems and s/w engineer, mainly in medical imaging; retired in 2001. In 2004 made my first panoramic photos with rotating slit camera hacked from a desktop document scanner. Built 4 more 'scancams' thru 2007, when I switched to conventional cameras and stitching software. In 2006 got involved in the Hugin open source stitcher project. Now work mainly on Panini, a multi-platform OpenGL pano viewer and "software view camera" that exists in both open source and commercial versions. My main photographic interests are creating natural (or at least plausible) looking super-wide angle views, especially of architectural interiors, works of art, and groups of people. To that end I spend a lot of time looking at paintings.
