What’s the purpose of the IVRPA today? I’m asking because I don’t see the org doing anything related to it’s mission statement. In fact, I don’t see the org doing anything to give me a reason to be a member in 2020.
MISSION STATEMENT
(1) The IVRPA mission is to promote the success of Professional VR Photographers and Videographers. (2) We strive to develop and support the professional and artistic uses of 360° panoramas, image based VR and (3) related technologies worldwide through education, (4) networking opportunities, (5) manufacturer alliances, (6) marketing assistance, and (7)technical support of our member’s work.
Out of those 7 items in the mission statement, what was accomplished in 2019?
Since July the IVRPA FB page has been silent. This is where anyone should be seeing activity of each item 1-7 every month if they were “promoting the success of Professional VR Photographers and Videographers.”
From what I’m seeing, the IVRPA has faded into obscurity and the AR/VR Association is the organization that is fulfilling the IVRPA mission statement every month by looking at their FB page.
So that leads me to ask, what’s the purpose of the IVRPA and how does it benefit me to be a member in 2020?

November 13, 2019 at 1:01 pm #23411I find it very distressing to find that a person like you, no longer finds a good reason to subscribe to an IVRPA membership.
November 14, 2019 at 4:00 pm #23414Those are very good points: I would say “networking” and “education” was covered with the belfast conference, all the other stuff, not so much, IMO.
I am hopeful the new board can breathe some new life into the mission statement, which is still overall valid.
November 15, 2019 at 6:30 am #23418We’ve held and partnered with local events this year in Los Angeles, Vienna and Oslo, and another one in Vienna coming up in December. There’s a call to provide ones work for an exhibition in the members forum.
We’d love to see more local events, but this requires local people to organize these events. This is nothing the board can provide. What we can do to support this is to establish connections and provide sponsorship if needed.

“The IVRPA mission is to promote the success of Professional VR Photographers and Videographers”
My family and I created Amuz (amuzapp.com) to be a simple, fun and privacy friendly experience for explorers. For now, I’ve been adding my work over the years to the app, including still, panoramic and video media.
If there are others who wish to share, I would be happy to include additional locations, with credit of course. There’s no income now – just expenses :), but the app may be a great, modern way to promote digital/immersive experiences around the world.
From a revenue perspective, perhaps we might work together to create opportunities for members to publish works (restaurants, hotels, etc.) and get paid :)
December 3, 2019 at 4:15 pm #23536I think this forum is better for me for photography.
