This issue has been fixed and clarified (before this post was added) and was an issue since May 2017.

I’m assuming you got permission from Thomas to post this on his behalf?

We are running this election as outlined by the bylaws.

Your idea of an ethics committee, however, has been noted. In the meantime, I refer you to Denis’ post in which he clearly states:

I will make sure that the process will be fare [sic] for all candidacies.

I guess you didn’t read my entire post. Here was my answer:

Will the next election be a repeat? We hope not.

You were upset (and still are, obviously) because Keith and Sam blocked you for spamming the forum (mind you, this board let’s you spam away) and couldn’t get you back on the forum. So Keith posted your candidacy for you. This was the reason for the extension. You and your issues and trying to fix them. Personally I didn’t know I had to apply, so, yes I was late.

I refer you to this post:

IVRPA Board of Directors annual elections 2018, new dates

    Please refrain from name-calling.

Will the next election be a repeat? We hope not.

The trips to SXSW got sponsors, namely Blend Media and Facebook360, members, speakers, and brand recognition. The budget given was $4000 for each year. I was not paid for the time I worked. My expenses were paid. I was not a board member. Keith was president.

    Hi, Luc.

Thanks for asking! All details were outlined in our annual members’s meeting in Belfast. Everything else is available for members here.

Our accountant is currently working our accounts. And as per the bylaws, will be released when they are ready. We thank you greatly for your patience and your outstanding work.

    Hi, Raffaele.

Are you trying to add your top/bottom (zenith/nadir) images to your panorama?

If so, make sure to include them while stitching the rest of your panorama.

The Patch tool in Pano2VR is commonly used to extract a non-distorted part of the stitched panorama (like the nadir) to be edited in Photoshop (or editor of choice). It doesn’t stitch images together.

Thanks, Sam. But, I cannot find such a page, nor have I seen it (and I’m pretty sure I’ve been to every nook and cranny, but I may have missed a nook).

Thanks, Sam, for the reminder. Do we have more of these outlines (besides what it outlined in the bylaws?).

Hi, Luc. Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention.

As a conference organizer for 2017, I feel I can respond appropriately.

The video equipment has already paid for itself in many ways. Unlike a 3D projector, standard broadcast video equipment does not go obsolete quickly, nor is it an obscure item. This was not an impulse purchase. I worked closely with the team to make sure it was a good move.

The set-up that was purchased, allows us to record multiple video streams at the same time (multiple cameras and the projector) while providing live graphics (name of speaker, title of talk, etc.) during the talk. It also allows us to easily stream the talks live (with live switching). This alone not only adds value to the conference but it saves time and the cost of production.

Please note, this is broadcast video recording equipment; not cameras or experimental items. It is an extremely affordable, professional solution that can be expanded when needed and even down-sized if needed. If SD cards go obsolete in the next year or two, then I guess we have a problem. But, I’m pretty sure SD cards, hard drives, and SDI and HDMI interfaces aren’t going anywhere fast. This is the tech our system relies on.

This system has now been used 2 times (Vienna, Tokyo and will be used again in Belfast). Renting such a set-up that allows for multi-cam switching, live graphics and streaming would cost the same if not more for a single conference (4, 8-hour days of talks).

Previous video production has been extraordinarily cheap because the IVRPA were relying on volunteers, like myself, to record and produce the videos. As the old saying goes, “you get what you pay for.”

In summary, yes, there was thought and consideration in purchasing and I believe it was a good decision; adding value, and saving money and time in the long run.
