anyone know how long hugin website has been offline, or when it may be fixed?
what problems are you referring to?
personally, i dont like sharing my stuff on google, but i do love google earth desktop for private locally hosted panos. if you want help doing that, let me know.
can this thread be moved to a private section, or perhaps “IVRPA Website Discussion” sub-forum? i understand its important to have these sort of internal discussions, but does it need to be in the general discussion forum?
thanks! and Merry Christmas fellow pano photo lovers :)

explain what pics you took better. and explain what u want to achieve better.
answer is yes. but to properly suggest how to do it. need more info.

hi ryan. welcome. we are quiet and slow to respond, but this place houses some of planet earths best pano gurus. really poopy news about kolor shutting down because stupid gopro. still in morning.

ill take a look at these tonight and help u out.

well, i learned one thing so far. plain simple rooms with solid surfaces are just as hard to process with photogrammetery tools, as they r to stitch multi row panos… :( i gotta keep trying, because i promised my boss some proof of concept samples next week.
pano2vr exported tours do not need viewer. totally self contained. just need web browser to view the offline html5/flash.
samsung gear 360 is garbage. its cheapest on market by long way, so if tiny budget is key, then so b it.
MUCH better options would be ricoh theta s (ok), YI360 (better), garmin virb 360 (best).
personally, i prefer to create standalone vr tours manually, using pano2vr. for more automated workflow, i like kolor panotour best.

by the way, i will not be getting the nikkor 16mm, as i dont want to deal with pentax adapter ring. i will instead opt for the equally awesome Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye Lens to go along with the Pentax K1.
if i happen to come across $5k laying on the ground, i’ll of course pick up the d850+nikkor16 instead.
August 19, 2017 at 4:03 am in reply to: Help with my new panorama equipment! – Nikon D800 + 14-24mm & Nodal Ninja #14458ive used many rigs for many purposes, but its always nice to be able to minimize shots for whatever setup u got. best trick i know to do this is first dial in nodal point really good. then experiment with rotation+tilt+twist to figure absolute min shots needed for sphere. note those angles down, or mark your head/rotator. then in an ideal setting (good static high contrast texture in all directions), shoot with your ideal min shot angles first, then shoot a bunch more at different angles to end up with LOTS of overlap everywhere.
use autopano/panotools/ptgui to find lots of control points in every direction (no bare spots), then spend time getting alignment perfect in ptgui. then delete all source images except your first few ideal min num of shots. save as stitching template.
now u can shoot perfectly stitched spheres, with minimal overlap.
one more thing. manually fine tunning lens settings (focal length, sensor size, multiplyer) is very important.

ya, thats prob best to handle it. i think the vr sub is prob best place to discuss and share that stuff for now, since 3d models are vr enviroments. ill post a bunch of cool links and youtubes there to see if it peeks anyones interest.
if youre the same sam from panoguide, u had more content there than most anyone. and i see u r the one who made these forums. very nicely done. much thanks. hopefully we can get this place poppin, and hopefully avoid the spambots that put nail in panoguides coffin.
btw, if u also build the tables, u might want to consider adding a photogrammetry subforum. its based on a sort of stereo pano photography to create 3d models. thats what im getting into for work. as i learn all the ins/outs, itd b nice to have a place to share useful info to peep w similar interest.
as Jürgen said, there is no such thing as an “ideal” pano rig for all applications.
that said, my next rig will consist of pentax k1 + nikkor 16mm + nodal ninja rd5. it will take quite nice panos with 3 shots. i prefer the pentax k1 over nikon d810 because nikon has still not fixed the oil drop issue on sensor.
my favorite support is DIGIANT MP-3606, well built hybrid monopod.
