SPEAKER: Ben Kreunen
Photogrammetry is becoming increasingly popular as a method of creating 3D data of real world scenes for use in game development, VFX and VR. Photogrammetry and panoramic imaging have quite a lot in common in terms of the image processing involved. A quick comparison of online forums will show very similar questions being asked by beginners. But the addition of a 3rd dimension for photogrammetry creates some important differences.
Over the last two years Ben Kreunen has been investigating photogrammetry methods for capturing complex scenes with equipment typically used for panoramic photography. This presentation takes a look “under the hood” of these experiments and projects, exploring the benefits and limitations of the different techniques, equipment and software.
